Located at Cap-à-l'Aigle in the Charlevoix region in Quebec, the lot was formerly used as farmland.
The site, a wooded parcel of 45,000 square-feet, will bring back childhood memories. A narrow access way, between two rows of trees bring you up to the entrance of the chalet. From there you have a spectacular view of the river.
Inspired by contemporary design, the architecture, achievable through the BONE Structure construction system, integrates seamlessly with the neighbouring nature.
L’Observatoire mirrors its surrounding forest. It takes roots deeply into the soil and rises up to the tree tops. Its wooden siding is echoed inside as a natural extension. Glimpses of the BONE steel Structure can be spotted that remind us of the uniqueness and the sturdiness this cottage offers.
The cottage is built on blocs stacked up that divide respective private spaces. Each room enjoys ample natural light. Through the generous fenestration on the upper floor, one can stay permanently tuned to the ships passing by, the birds flying around, the sky and the stars above. This open space, predominantly white, stretches out to an amazing terrace fenced in glass. The atmosphere is intimate and the air is flowing.
The materials used in the construction, wood, concrete, steel, quartz and glass add a touch of luxury which makes a stay at this cottage a truly unique experience.
